Honored to be awarded "Montana's Treasured Artist" by Secreteary of State:
(HELENA) – Secretary of State Linda McCulloch today introduced photographer Craig Hergert, of Bozeman, as the next “Treasured” Montana Artist. Hergert is the fourth Montana artist to receive the notable distinction since McCulloch launched the exhibit in January 2009.
“Craig’s artwork is larger than life,” Secretary McCulloch said. “His photographs take you on a panoramic journey across some of Montana’s most beautiful landscapes. Each photo is different, and each tells a story of its own.”
“Nothing compares to the pure splendor of the magnificent and diverse landscape of Montana,” Hergert said. “For twelve years I have attempted to capture this world through new eyes and a new lens. There have been quite a few changes in the short time since I began this process, and my hope is that these images will tell their small part through historical documentation, or visions of beauty alone.”
Hergert is a freelance artist whose photographs and paintings are currently on display in several mediums around the world, including the Secretary of State’s website at sos.mt.gov. He also owns and operates the Montana Panoramic Gallery, which is located in the Emerson Cultural Center for the Arts in Bozeman.
“Craig’s artwork complements Montana’s rich history,” Secretary McCulloch said. “Each image gives you a sense of honor, as it reminds you how lucky we are to live in such a remarkable state. Hergert’s artwork will be on display through April 2010 in the front lobby of the Secretary of State’s Office in the State Capitol Building in Helena. The exhibit is available at no cost to the public.

Meeting and working with the great Warren Miller!
Had the honor of not only meeting, but working with Warren Miller over the weekend in Big Sky! I was brought in to record audio tracks for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canada. (lucky bit of having the right equipment, at the right time, with a good friend asking a favor). Feeling pretty damn good right now......Nothing like being able to sit in a room for an entire morning working with an icon in the industry of photography, film and the entrepreneurial spirit.
We did about 100 takes on fifteen-30 second script reads to welcome visitors to each arena at the Olympics. So, if you happen to be in Vancouver for the games this year, and you hear the unmistakable voice of Warren welcome you to the luge, it all happened here. And a kid who started skiing at the age of 4, with visions of powder films and lofty ideas about "living the dream" in his little head, got to meet a hero....
