Here is a little time lapse of spawning rainbows from one of my favorite fisheries…the clear cold spring fed waters of Georgetown Lake new Philipsburg. I fell in love with this area while working for Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks in Anaconda at the Washoe Fish Hatchery in the summer of 1997, and still go back to the area as much as possible. I started snorkeling and SCUBA diving the rivers and lakes of Montana back in 2002 to take a closer look at the underneath the thinly veiled water line that separates life above and below. And after many years of attempting to get the “perfect” fish photos, I found that just simply being in the water was more fulfilling than actually taking photos. The process of being submerged in the water is a relaxing and meditative process, literally, being immersed with mother nature….trust me, put river snorkeling on your to do list for this summer no matter where you are!
