"Survival" 2003 Location: Yellowstone National Park, MT Limited Edition of 75
I hiked down into the Lamar Valley a bit to get away from the carloads of others watching the scene below. I sat about 300 yards watching as a couple of wolves slowly and methodically circled around a herd of cow elk waiting for an opportunity..The bull in the foreground (about 30 yards from me) seemed unconcerned with the wolves. He and about 6 other large bulls just sat around and mulled for grass under the deep snow without a care. Survival of the fittest indeed.
